ROCCA MAGGIORE

ASSISI, ITALY

The original photo that inspired this illustration is a view from Rocca Maggiore. The citadel of Assisi and the most viable fortification for their defense.

Medium, pencil and watercolor.

Assisi is a hill town in central Italy's Umbria region. It was the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi (1181-1226), one of Italy's patron saints.

Rocca Maggiore, is a medieval fort that was built in the twelfth century to protect the town of Assisi.
